of Homes

Built around 1906 by Charles Herbert Tilden, son of Winter Garden pioneer Luther Fuller Tilden, the Oakland Arms is a landmark of Central Florida’s early architectural and community heritage.

Charles Tilden was part of a family whose name is woven into the very foundation of the region’s history. The Tildens were among the area’s most prominent families, known for their leadership in agriculture and community building during the early 1900s. The home stood as a centerpiece in what became known as Tildenville, just outside Winter Garden, a place where innovation and perseverance shaped the character of the land and its people.

Honoring the Past.

Building the Future.

Today, more than one hundred years later, the Oakland Arms Mansion is being thoughtfully restored to ensure its story continues. The architectural details that once defined its era, from its signature symmetry to the handcrafted finishes, are being carefully preserved and enhanced using modern materials that honor its original character.

The restoration and new development are being led by J&J Building, a family of builders crafting homes with generations of expertise in Central Florida since 1976. Known for their commitment to excellence, integrity, and timeless design, J&J Building approaches the project with the same care and craftsmanship that have defined their legacy for nearly five decades.

Their vision is not simply to rebuild a historic home, but to renew its presence as a cornerstone of the community, a place where history, architecture, and modern comfort coexist in perfect harmony.

A Legacy

Reborn

Beyond the mansion itself, the Oakland Arms Estate will soon welcome eleven private homes, thoughtfully designed to reflect the architectural character and charm of the original residence. Each home will be crafted to harmonize with the landscape and the heritage that surrounds it, creating a unified and intimate enclave.

These homes will celebrate the principles that guided the Tilden family more than a century ago, quality, permanence, and a sense of belonging. Residents will have the rare opportunity to live within a setting that is not only beautiful but also historically significant.

Together, the mansion and surrounding estates will form a living legacy, a modern chapter in a story that began over a century ago and continues to shape the community today.

Honoring the Past.

Where Heritage

Meets Home

The revival of Oakland Arms represents more than preservation. It is a reawakening of history, a continuation of legacy, and an invitation to experience the best of both worlds, timeless architecture and contemporary living.

Each home within the estate carries forward the spirit of craftsmanship and purpose that has defined the Tilden family’s vision for generations. Rooted in history, surrounded by nature, and reimagined for modern life, Oakland Arms stands as a testament to the enduring beauty of thoughtful design and the value of legacy that lasts.
